Restaurant Saigon in Jena

In itself I think that good food can cost more. But it is simply not a satisfying experience if you have to go to Fritz Mitte after a starter and a main course because you just haven't been full at all. The curry was quite delicious, but I don't understand why I should pay 13 € for a curry with tofu (nothing special) (25 € all in all with one tea as a drink for one person). In addition, my peanut curry was lukewarm, which unfortunately disappointed me a bit. So I found the shop itself really nice and the staff: inside really nice, and the food wasn't bad either, but unfortunately the price-performance ratio didn't convince me.

A great restaurant with very friendly staff. I like to go back here because the price-performance ratio is right. Every dish I tried here was just delicious. Praise to the team, please keep it up.

Enjoy your meal. Good service. We didn't like the ambience. Everything kept black. Dark uncomfortable atmosphere. Lamps gave so little light that you needed a flashlight to read the map. But ambience is also a matter of taste.

Unfortunately, the restaurant cannot be recommended at all. Sticky floor and tables, the menu smells of rancid fat. Flies everywhere. All ordered food was only lukewarm, one of the meals was not ordered. The portions were sufficient but clearly overpriced. Better look for another Vietnamese in Jena, they are only trying to make quick money. Hygiene simply underground.

The food is really tasty, unfortunately we waited 20 minutes for the order to be taken, then another 30 minutes for the drinks and the food came after 1 1/2 hours. Pity!

The food here, as expected, for a Vietnamese, was super delicious! Although the waitress seemed stressed, they were very friendly. But you also know the Vietnamese ... 😅

We waited 45 minutes for our drinks alone, another half an hour for the food and when we wanted to pay, it took an incredible 50 minutes before we could leave. A street musician came and I asked the radio to turn down. None of the three employees understood a word and ended up turning the music up. The food, however, was really tasty and not run-of-the-mill.

We used to love to eat there. Yesterday we were disappointed. It took forever until we got our starters, 2 minutes later when we weren't even finished with the starters came my daughter's main course. A good 15 minutes later ours. Of which one went back because there was no vegan meat on it but "real". The food that came after that was okay. The vegetables in it are sloppy. We also complain about the extra peanut oil that we have always loved - it was slimy and tasted like vinegar. Every meal was only lukewarm ... It was impossible to reorder the drinks, as we were simply ignored, but some others did too. What a shame! We have heard many times lately that they are a bunch of people disappointed and unfortunately we can only confirm that. Not to be compared with the dishes from elsewhere.

I liked to eat at Saigon .. Until today. It took forever until the food was served or drinks could be reordered. The starter was way too small and especially way too simple for the price of over € 16. The duck as the main course didn't work at all. It was way too dry and not freshly prepared. The pasta smelled like a rotten rag and the vegetables in the dish betrayed the lack of freshness of the food. The drinks weren't cheap, but they were good. Panna cotta was great. We let the main course go back and after a while there was a new dish that none of us wanted. Instead of not calculating the costs, the replacement meal would be packed for us to take away ...

I have eaten there several times and have always been satisfied. There has probably been a change of ownership or strategy, which the restaurant does not benefit from. We waited 1 hour for our food. One of the meals was delivered differently than ordered. The question of a discount led to more resentment than would have been necessary. Pity!

One of the best Asian food in town. You pay a bit higher price for better food. Good outside seating and nice ambience.

Great general Asian restaurant located in the heart of Jena. They offer an all-you-can-eat buffet for lunch for €6.90 between 11:00 and 14:30, which includes rice, noodles, spring rolls and four typical dishes, such as a coconut curry, sweet and sour chicken, etc. We will often go here for lunch during the working day. If that doesn't appeal to you, there is also the menu which has many different dishes from around eastern and southeastern Asia. Some examples include a variety of curries, udon, noodles, and many others. There is something for everyone.

Best vietnamese cuisine in jena! The buffet on weekdays is also very affordable and a good alternative to the mensa!

Stick to the soups!

The menu is very appealing and offers a nice Vietnamese selection. The food is fine, but the whole offer for the offered is overpriced. The service is too slow with far too long waiting times. Maybe you would just need more staff. Unfortunately, staff can not help with any queries regarding the menu due to the language barrier. The Saigon is in itself a place to go out to eat - unfortunately, the above points, however, diminish the experience a bit too much.

The food was good. We loved the fried dumplings and wok. They also had some nice mocktails and lemonade.

Good Vietnamese food and friendly service. My only little complaint is that we were in a large group and they did not keep track of who ordered which meal, so there were a few mix ups. Service is also a bit slow.

Long wait until we even had the menu and then again until someone took both the drinks and the food order. Main courses were tasty and generous. Appetizer platter also tasty but a little bit little for the price. All in all: eat well but a little more expensive. Staff overwhelmed, hectic and uncoordinated.

Das Essen war echt alt. Hänchen hat sehr alt gerochen. Genauso war die Ente. Worst food ever. Part of my food was leftover from another dish. Duck was really old. 14€ for garbage.i will never go back there even if I'm starving to death.

Reasonably priced, good food in a cosy environment! I ordered the duck and shrimp with rice noodles and peanut sauce and it was delicious.

Jena has a bit of everything so tonight was Vietnamese food. Quite good tasting and good service as well.

Very good, fresh Vietnamese cuisine with refreshing cocktails. A clean restaurant with nice, cozy decoration. A clear map with a large selection. Everyone should find a court here. Nice and fast staff. Clean toilets. Definitely soon!

I've only gone here for lunch but they have a really good buffet (compared to others in Jena) and can fill up your plate more than once. The price isn't bad either.

Recently edited This is a okay Vietnamese restaurant. The prices are a bit too much for the quality and quantity of the food. The food is really distinct though from other Asian restaurants. The service is really awful though. They just can't make any decisions on their own and always only one person needs to be consulted for everything. It's also really slow. We ordered drinks appetizers and main dish and they brought all the stuff at the same time which is really nonsensical. All the three times I've been there the service and staff has made major mistakes like bringing the wrong dish or completely ignoring us or even just being really slow . Like really slow. Do try the peanut curry tofu dish. It's good. Update : was not so good last time. Quality seems to be inconsistent The drinks are also pricey for the place. Bamboo dumplings are not what it's described. There's hardly any filling in it.
